Jo-Ann and Candida met on the first day of college orientation and have been friends ever since. Many conversations and life experiences later, we realized that we were both working in the eye of the storm of mental health problems in adolescents – but coming from our two different vantage points – education and psychiatry. It’s clear to both of us that schools and educational systems will be essential in tackling the youth mental health crisis.
We hope our conversations highlight both the connections and knowledge gaps between mental health and education. Our focus is on teens and young people in high school and early adult years, to help educators, clinical providers, and parents navigate the systems with a better understanding.
